GREASERS,
an old name that has never died away. a word used to describe the grease that was once wore in the poor kid's hair to slick it back but is not meant to mean something like "hood", "criminal", "gangster" to some of the more conservative people in the town. these are what the poor kids are called, the ones that live on the east side of town with their parent or guardian. usually stuck in this phase of their live until about 21 or so, these are the guys and girls that are not ashamed of who they are and take it with a grain of salt. the cliche version of a greaser would mean stealing things, getting into fights and driving old cars but that's not always the case. some are in gangs with one another while others float around the east side waiting for the day that they get to leave the segregation and go off into the real world. lack of morals and strong morals are the mix on this side of town. haters of the socials and those that choose to often get into fights with the richer kids while others are merely victims of attacks.
SOCS,
yet another old name, this one still has some value to it. socs, or socials are the students that live on the west side of the town in the stepford house wives and having seemingly perfect lives. they have the money, the trust fund and their parents to back them up when they need to. some of the students are hardcore socs who believe that they are entitled to anything that they want while others are just floating around waiting for the day that they can go off to college in some big and important school. others are hardcore haters of the greasers and would want nothing more than to purge the town of them and there are others who are not as extreme but don't mind getting into fights. rumor is that these are the real trouble makers as the town as their money can buy them out of any trouble that they get into. in reality, they are just as bad as the east side but with more stable roofs over their heads and more expensive clothes on their back but no one will see that due to the "manners" that these socs are required to show. but that is the stereotypical soc, there are some that prove that theory wrong and are upstanding, polite, seemingly perfect citizens of tulsa.
NEUTRALS,
a name that is not one that is always positive to be labelled with as they can be thought of as cowards and wimps for not choosing a side. these students live on their side of the town or in the actual neutral section and do not wish to choose a side. this does not mean that they are not caught in rumbles or victims to the random jumping that either side performs but they do not favor one side over another. they are exactly what they are labelled; neutral. they have no perfecence to who their friends are and that often causes conflicts between friends as these are the students that will talk to both greaser and soc and even try and get the two to hang out. some are trying to end the feud and make tulsa a better place whereas others do not really care and choose not to bother picking a side. these can even be old socs and greasers that realized that the feud was stupid and was not getting them anywhere, either way, these guys are switzerland in a town war.
TEACHERS,
the fine educators at tulsa high school, they are well aware of the feuding. some of them have never left the town and therefore favor one side over the other whereas there are those that are new to the town and are oblivious to the feud that is heating up more and more each day. having to break up fights, give out dentions and try and keep the socs from saying subtle digs to the greasers that even bother showing up for class in the first place while trying to stop the greaser from starting a fight is part of the job for a teacher. strict, easy, simple, complex, fun loving, stick-in-the-ass are the kinds of personalities that range in the classrooms of the school and bless their hearts since they are trying their hardest to keep the school safe, too bad the feud is bigger than just them.
LOCALS,
college students, doctors, lawyers, mechanics, waitresses, receptionists and many other professions that help keep the economy of the town alive and well all fall under the category of local. fresh off the plan or native to the town, the feud affects them as well as they are not always just by-standers in the rumbles. some of these locals are too old to be a high school student but still have an alliance toward one group over the other.however, they are often too worried with the lives to notice the tension that is building and try to focus more on their lives. unless you are a police officer, than trying to break the up the feuds would be in the best interest as the town is growing unsafe and the locals should start to take notice.
